Established in 1999.

We married in March of 1999 in Birmingham, AL. Spring is a time for rebirth, refreshing, and home renovations. In 2000, on our first anniversary, we arrived 3000 miles from home, relocated to a gorgeous town on the Puget Sound in the state of Washington. Our first renovation project together was a neglected one room garage apartment, with the most breathtaking view of the Olympic Mountains. We knew we wanted to live in this charming beautiful town and that we could only afford to if we used our time and talents. We rebuilt the tiny kitchen and bathroom, painted and refreshed the floors and loved the cozy nautical cabin feel. We’ll always remember the view, but we outgrew our tiny home.

Our second renovation was in the historic district of North End Tacoma, WA. Larry has always had the skill to know if a house in disrepair has good potential, so we’ve taken risks improving the homes that others wouldn’t take. Our second home project had a damp unusable basement due to a little flow of water across the basement floor which the seller said had “always” been there. Soon after we purchased it, he opened up the wall and repaired the leaking pipe. Then we set to improving that space until it was a great media room, extra bath, and large laundry. These improvements dramatically increased it’s value and set it apart from all of the little one bathroom homes in our area.

When we had our first child we returned to Birmingham in 2005. We purchased an “as is” 1975 split-level. It was our family home for 11 years and had too many renovations to list. My favorites were the garden shed, elegant master bath, removing the wall between the kitchen and family room and our large screened back porch.

When the recession of 2008 occured, Larry used his skills in finding houses with “good bones” to renovate. He overhauled three houses for an investor friend. In 2010 we bought our first investment and the whole family joined the process of improving the interior and exterior of this foreclosed home. The entire home required extensive attention.

In 2014 we completed a second investment project and were working around the clock on our 15th wedding anniversary to be able to offer it to missionaries on furlow who needed a home in the US. I keep a utility knife as an anniversary keepsake from this serving opportunity.

Recently we built an off grid tiny house/hunting cabin on raw land in Perry County, complete with an outhouse, goat shed and pen.

Our current project is in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. This home needed an all new bathrooms and it’s kitchen required a complete demo and rebuild, with all new cabinets, fixtures and appliances. When it is finished it will have almost every thing replaced. Flooring, water heater, HVAC and duct work, plumbing, electrical, new paint inside and out.
During all of these years these projects were side work. In the pattern of our March new beginnings and to mark our 21st anniversary, we are observing the year of 2020 vision and a leap year by “leaping” in faith to launch our own renovation business. Woodward Home Improvement, LLC is open for business to serve your renovation projects. Let us turn your vision for your space into a reality for your home or business. -Randa Woodward

Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.”
